    About us

Started with 3 volunteers and 50 riders

F.H.P.H. Horse Shows was founded in 2016 with just three volunteers and 50 competitors. It has grown into a multi-discipline horse show association welcoming more than 800 competitors a year from Salt Lake, Tooele, Davis, Utah, and Ogden.

For 10 years our mission has been to provide affordable, welcoming, educational, and fun horse shows where riders of all experience levels can learn, compete, grow, and enjoy their horses.

F.H.P.H. stands for From the Heart Performance Horses.

    10 years · 2016–2026

    Ten years, from the heart

F.H.P.H. held its very first show on December 17, 2016, at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park in South Jordan. It was snowing, it felt like 7 degrees, and riders came anyway. Ribbons went through 5th place, and the flyer said it plainly: these shows are for having fun, training, and learning how to show. Alena Hunter, now Alena Little, started it with three volunteers and about 50 riders, and her daughter was a baby in the saddle that first season.

Ten years later, that little winter schooling series has grown into a full season for more than 800 competitors a year. We've shown at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, The Peak Sports & Entertainment Complex, and the Davis Agricultural Heritage Center, and now we're back at the same address where it all began, today's Bastian Agricultural Center. English, Western, and Speed have been joined by the Extreme Cowboy Challenge and Western Trail. Year-end awards that started with buckets, rope halters, and ribbons now include saddles, buckles, cash payouts, and prizes from local sponsors who believe in what we do.

Our family has grown right along with the shows. Alena married Matthew, our go-to show support and an amazing show dad, and the baby in the saddle that first season is now the oldest of four kids who have grown up around the arena, helping set up, cheering on the rail, and taking their own first rides.

Looking ahead, we want more shows and more riders, bigger English and Western programs, growing Extreme Cowboy and Western Trail programs, and more sponsor-backed awards for the riders who work hard all season. What won't change is why we started: affordable, family-run shows where a first-time rider and a seasoned pro both feel at home. Thank you to every rider, family, volunteer, judge, and sponsor who made the first ten years. Here's to the next ten.
